Who We Are
Israel Healing Initiative is a nonprofit dedicated to healing trauma at the speed of science. The organization has an innovative, high-tech approach to improving the brain functioning of trauma survivors around the world with neurostimulation treatment, making survivors more receptive to conventional trauma treatments and expediting their recovery.
The organization was founded after October 7, 2023, when Hamas militants turned the gathering of 3,500 young people at the Nova Music Festival into the deadliest music festival in history. In the surrounding kibbutzim, entire families were slaughtered, with children and elderly residents killed or kidnapped. A total of 1,200 people were killed, 251 were taken hostage, and young women were brutally raped, mutilated, and paraded as trophies
In the weeks that followed, Dr. Orli Peter, a neuropsychologist and clinical psychologist based in Los Angeles, created Israel Healing Initiative to provide state-of-the-art support to the survivors of disasters, terrorism and war. The daughter of a Holocaust survivor, she knew well the long-lasting impact of trauma on the brain. Today, Israel Healing Initiative includes neuropsychologists, psychiatrists, neurologists and other mental health professionals and researchers from around the world, coming together to accelerate treatment for trauma survivors.

In our second year of operations, we humbly ask for your financial support to ensure that more survivors receive these life-changing treatments. This phase focuses on providing intensive care to Nova survivors, the most severely traumatized individuals in the kibbutzim targeted by Hamas – Kibbutz Nir Oz, Holit and others – Bedouins and innocents in the north, including the Druze and others bombarded by missiles from Hezbollah. By helping restore their nervous system to proper functioning, they can more easily rebuild their lives and begin to contribute to their communities in ways they once thought impossible.
We are empowering survivors as they rebuild shattered lives, and we are giving people hope, based on scientific research related to trauma.
