Deborah Briggs
Deborah Briggs is a board member of Israel Healing Initiative. She has an M.A. in organizational psychology from Columbia University. Ms. Briggs has spent years developing effective systems for Fortune 100 companies, including Chase, ABC-TV and Citigroup. She moved into work with social impact, founding Gymboree and Huntington Learning Centers franchises in New York City and co-creating and supporting nonprofits including The Narrative Method in Los Angeles, Dancing Classrooms in Florida and the NormaLeah Initiative in Illinois.
After experiencing the loss of many loved ones at a young age, Ms. Briggs redirected her focus toward understanding the nature of life and how we can live it meaningfully. This journey led her to work with others in crafting purposeful lives and intentional legacies. In 2015, she was initiated as an Elder and certified as a Sage-ing Leader by Sage-ing International, a network of experts in the journey of aging. She guides individuals toward living with joy, meaning and compassion.
Throughout her career, she has had the privilege of leading workshops, small groups and counseling sessions in various settings, including the 92nd Street Y and the Jewish Community Center in New York City’s Upper West Side, the Chautauqua Institute and private wellness centers in Florida. Her work focuses on helping participants challenge stereotypes, harvest the wisdom of their experiences and put that wisdom into conscious action.
She is now dedicated to bringing the same principles of meaning, resilience and renewal to trauma survivors through her work with the Israel Healing Initiative.
